Initial Meeting

Thoughts after the initial meeting.

The first meeting with Matt heightened our enthusiasm for creating a film about Leeds fans. At this moment in time, it has been made clear that myself and the rest of the team go out and research by talking to people and looking on social media. It is obvious that we somewhat need to be brave and perhaps stop people in the street that are wearing Leeds F.C clothing. Matt told us that this is the first time Leeds have came close to getting promoted since the late 90s, so making a doc/moc on Leeds fans at this point in time, is entirely relevant. Football being such a massive culture in England and especially Leeds, means that this film has the potential to be wholesome, believable and rich.

It's clear that to make a mocumentary (which could also be a documentary) you have to know the context. Therefore, despite myself and others knowing a lot about fans from the teams we support ourselves, our knowledge on Leeds as a club isn't actually that great. Which again, proves the importance of research. Following the meeting yesterday, me Izzi and Rich went into one of the three Leeds United shops. The guy that worked in there told us he was a Leeds born and bred fan, he also gets a free season ticket for working there, however can't use it as he's working so gives it to his uncle for £20 and watches the game on his phone. It seems this little funny insights are going to be key in getting wholesome information we can apply to the film. He also mentioned how a lot of fans that come into the shop are from Ireland and Norway. I also watched, '15 minutes that shook the world' a hilarious mocumentary on Liverpool, watching something like acts as huge inspiration in creating this film.
