Tiarnan's Evaluation (couldn't edit on the first)

I joined this project from the beginning as I knew the team well and had seen previous work of theirs that had done very well. I also really had liked the idea of the mocumentary as I love working on docs but had never really tried anything very comedic. I said from the beginning that I would be the sound recordist and boom if necessary however I would not have liked to do the sound design as I had just done that on another project and would like some more practise first.

Not long after we had decided it was to be a mocumentary the original plan changed to just being a standard documentary on Leeds United supporters and here is where primarily Poppy and Rich found contacts. Our first few meetings with the contributors we didn't film we did this because we thought it would be best if we got their trust and got to know them first, this was actually very successful and I talked to several of them for a few hours.

The first interview that we recorded caused a lot of difficultly for me, I wanted to be the best prepared I could so I had two Lav Mics, One 664 mixer with a Bose Mic and carbon fibre boom pole, on top of this I had a very basic recorder in case all else failed. When the actual interview took place there were about five subjects (I can't remember the exact number) and I did not have a lot of space to boom and there were too many to Mic up. To combat this I made the boom nearly as long as possible and had to carefully move between each speaker trying to forecast who was going to speak before they did. I also had the the recorder on the table to pick up the general audio. This actually went very well however there were several times where the boom dropped into shot.

The second interview was a lot easier as I simply had to Lav up both subjects in the pub, although one Radio Mic was very sensitive so I had to turn the levels very low on the mixer, I also had Izzy to Liam to help boom throughout so I could focus on the levels more.

I never was going to do the sound design but I was told last minute to help out as the levels were different in the edit. I only had an Ilok for about three hours so there was not a lot I could do except make sure the levels were equal, however there was a huge error that took up most of my time. For some reason the AFF file that I got from premier was missing all the data so most of my time I was spending relinking all the audio files as I wanted to at least try. If I was to do the sound design I would have liked a lot more time to do the sound edit.
